Ami's world
In The Times of India staat vandaag een interview met fotojournaliste Ami Vitale onder de titel Ami's World:
I was a shy child, photography was a great way to overcome my fears. For me, it was a kind of passport that helped me to see and learn so much about other people as well as their culture. I just discovered there was another world out there.
I am not fearless and the Kashmir experience almost made me quit being a journalist. I could not believe that humans beings could be so cruel. It changed me and made me feel a deep sense of despair that is difficult to describe. I almost left India forever after the riots but I chose to stay because I knew I could not leave with only one perspective. I ended up spending five years in India and my experiences were rich and diverse. It was a privilege and I’m deeply grateful for that time.
